Actress Drew Barrymore In Beauty and The Beast Vogue Photoshoot

Actress Drew Barrymore In Beauty and The Beast Vogue Photoshoot

This has been truely one of my favorite photoshoots, mostly because Drew Barrymore happens to be my favorite female actress/mentor, but also because I adore photographer Annie Leibovitz’s style as she captures the elegance, grace and romance of stories. (I will be featuring more of her shoots later)

For those wondering… yes this is a real lion, his name is Asland from a North Carolina zoo where he was bred. Though he was quite peaceful through the whole shoot, everyone had to be constantly on guard not to disturb the beast. Drew did such a fantastic job posing with him, that you would never have known him to be anything other then an ordinary house cat.

The majority of the shoot was done in rose gardens and elegant estates in Hillsborough, New Jersey. The photoshoot was featured in Vogue magazine back in 2005, but is still fasinating to look at. Several of the shots even appear on horse back as you will see in images below, as the story of Beauty and the Beast dantily unfolds.

So the story begins…

Beauty was a fair gentle maiden, known by all for her simplicity and care. Her sisters demanded fine gowns and furs, but all that Beauty wanted was a rose…

One day while traveling through the wood, Beauty came upon what appeared to be a abandoned castle. Something intrigued Beauty to venture inside, where she found empty halls, filled with magical music…

Venturing yet further into the castle she discovered a Beast, but this was no ordinary Beast. He spoke, his voice soft and gentle like that of a dove. The Beast looked very sad and lonely so Beauty being of such kind nature, decided to stay and care for the Beast. In return the Beast was very kind to her, “Everything in the house is yours.” He even clothed her in fine gowns and elaborate jewels.

Beauty remained with the Beast for sometime, but she became very lonely for her father. The Beast gave her a magic mirror, that allowed her to see whatever she wished. Upon looking in the mirror she saw her father and how he had grown sick with worry over her loss…

She decided to leave the Beast to return to comfort her father, but promised to return to the Beast as soon as she could…

But she did not return. Night after night the Beast gazed out the castle windows into the dark forest awaiting her return. But his heart grew heavy with grief. He had grown to love Beauty. His curse bound him to the castle walls.. if he were to leave them, he would surely die. But to live a life without his Beauty would be death as well. So, he decided to go after her…

About this same time, Beauty was returning to the castle. Upon her return she looked for the Beast throught the castle, but found him nowhere. She happened to cross by the patio to the gardens, there the door lay open and a cold wind blew just then about her. Her heart grew cold with worry, for she too knew what would happen if the Beast dare leave his castle.

She dashed out into the gardens and found her Beast laying amoungst the roses; life no longer in his eyes, breath no longer in his lungs. She knelt beside him and wept for a time. Then gently kissed his whiskered cheek. As she began to rise a magical thing began to happen. The petals from the roses fell, carried on a light breeze and covered the Beast’s body. Just then the sun rose high in the sky and beams of light shone through the trees emboding the rose covered Beast in rays of sparkeling sunlight.

She saw movement amoungst the rose petals, her heart skipped a beat and she ran to meet her Beast. But instead of a Beast now stood a prince and for a moment she hesitated to move any closer. He spoke.. a voice so soft, so gentle that at once she knew who it was. The spell was broke and she ran to great her love.

And well, you know the rest of the story from here…

Thor 2 The Dark World Review And Trailer

Josh and I went to see Thor 2: The Dark World Saturday night, let me just say I was completely blown away by the quality and performance of this film. In my opinion this was the best movie I have seen in years.

The script & story line where spot on, intriging, whimsical. Each characters role was well thought out and extremely well executed. Nothing was predictable, which I have found to be a very rare quality among movies these days. I was captivated from the moment Thor 2 started until it ended.

The ease in which scenes flowed from one to the next was done with taste and style, that again is a rare quality I don’t see often in movies today.

The choreography of the fight sequences was well planed, well filmed and very well played out by the cast. My favorite fight sequence was when Rene Russo (Frigga Thors mother) wields a sword against Christopher Eccleston (Malekith, the dark elf king). It was totally unexpected and brilliant to she her perform such a role! Pure genius by the writers. I also enjoyed the fact that the battle scene maintained a sense of reality without the necessity of gore. I do realize it is a PG-13 film, but even some PG13 get out of hand these days, so I was glad to see that they refrained from that in Thor 2, keeping the congrunecy of the first Thor and Marvel pictures all together.

I found the love story between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) & Jane Foster ( Natalie Portman) very tastfully done; not to intense, realistic, danty. Not to mushy and not to intimate. Which is congruent to all the Marvel films, but I found again to be extremely refreshing for a PG-13 film. Now a days films are filled with to much sensuality, nudity and plain out sex for my taste. Even PG-13 films are getting out of hand, so I found Thor 2 to be decent enough to be considered a family film.

Josh said it was one of his favorite films, infact both of us are still marveling at it several days later and can’t wait to see it again!

I would say one critique. The 3D aspect neither helped, nor hindered how fantastic this movie is. So as far as 3D films goes this year, I would have to say Superman Man of Steel outdid Thor 2 in that arena, but by far I enjoyed Thor 2: The Dark World over every other movie I saw this year and can’t wait to add it to my collection of films.

I give it 5 stars and a 10 out of 10!

7 Ideas For Memorizing Your Lines

7 Ideas For Memorizing Your Lines

#1 Read Through The Whole Script Highlighting Your Lines As You Go Along

Reading through the whole script will enable you to understand the plot, get to know your character, allow you to get to know the other characters and have a firm grasp on the theme, feeling/mood of the play or movie.

#2 Make Your Lines Into A Song

Creating your own sing a long, has been proven to help people remember important information. Make up your own little tune to help you remember your lines.

#3 Read Out Loud

Walk about the house, acting out and reading your lines aloud. This helps you hear, see and be your lines which helps your mind to connect to your character enabling you to remember them better.

#4 Record Your Lines

Instead of reading them out loud, you could try recording your lines. Use your phone, your computer or other recording device to record your lines. Then listen to it at night while you sleep. It has also been proven that what you listen to while you sleep is most absorbed by your brain, enabling you to remember it better.

#5 Break Them Down

Breaking down you lines can help you remember them better, repeat the small sections multiple times until you can resit them without looking.

#6 Write It Out

You know that trick your teachers made you do, in order to learn how to spell words… well the same trick can be applied to learning your lines! Write them out, get a notebook and just keep writing out your lines. An even better idea is switch hands, your brain has to work harder to help you write with your opposite hand, enabling you to remember your lines even better.

#7 Practice With A Friend

Sometimes you just need to know when to say your lines, so remembering what words come before yours will que you in on what lines are coming next. Ask a friend to read the other lines before and after yours, make it fun… act it out together while video taping yourselves!

There are alots of other fun ways to memorize your lines, feel free to comment below with any little tricks that work best for you!
